GHS-TV Earns 12 Annual Hometown Media Awards

Germantown High School Television is racking up awards at the Annual Hometown Media Awards.

The student run television station won 12 awards from the Alliance for the Community Media. GHS-TV has been recognized with 174 Hometown Media Awards since 1982.

GHS-TV’s talk show Crosstalk was honored in the following categories:

  • Community Events: Germantown Horse Show edition
  • Entertainment and Arts: Rowan Oak-Home of William Faulkner
  • Informational Talk Show: Memphis Landmarks
  • Informational Talk Show Series
  • Entertainment and Arts Series

Shelby County Schools Report was honored in three categories:

  • Magazine Shows
  • Educational Profile
  • Education Activities

The school newscast Wake Up Germantown! was awarded in the Student News category.

GHS-TV’s live election night coverage, Election Night 2016, was honored in the Democracy in Action category. Their live coverage of the 45th Annual Germantown Festival was awarded in Community Events category.

The station itself won the Overall Excellence in Educational Success Award.

The awards will be given out at the Alliance for Community Media Annual Conference in Minneapolis later this month.
