Cute kids and cute animals—it sounds like the perfect combination, right? Shelby County Schools and the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County sure think so.
Each week, SCS elementary students will be showing off their reading skills in front of the camera while highlighting adoptable dogs and cats from the Humane Society. The goal is to reward students for their hard work, as they practice their reading and help homeless pets find their forever homes.
This week Downtown Elementary School 2nd grader Kaleb Jones introduces us to Journey.
Journey is a seven year old Cattle Dog Mix. Journey is a very special dog, because he is totally deaf! He has learned to do tricks with hand signal commands, and he really enjoys getting treats. Journey loves to get lots of attention and belly rubs, and he enjoys hanging out on the couch and watching TV. Even though he is an older dog, he still loves to play in the yard and chase tennis balls. Journey loves everyone he meets, and he gets along very well with other dogs! Will you be the perfect home for Journey?
